Arsenal to Sign £12m Goal Machine: Olivier Giroud Deal Imminent

Arsenal set to sign Olivier Giroud for £12m from Montpellier

Arsenal are close to completing a deal to sign Montpellier striker and France international Olivier Giroud for £12m.
The Gunners are expected to confirm the 25-year-old’s arrival this week.
Manager Arsene Wenger intends to play him alongside fellow new signing Lukas Podolski and Dutch striker Robin van Persie in a front three.
The 6ft 3ins forward, who was an unused substitute in France’s 1-1 Euro 2012 draw with England, scored 21 goals in his club’s run to the Ligue 1 title.
By all accounts this deal is practically signed and sealed but may not, as some have speculated, involve Marouane Chamakh moving in the opposite direction. 25 year old hot-shot Olivier Giroud is available for £12m due to a release clause in the French international’s contract that many sides were not doubt keen to trigger.
The Montpellier striker netted 25 goals in all competitions last term, helping his side to a maiden Ligue 1 title. His imminent arrival at the Emirates Stadium may well lead some to believe that Robin Van Persie may be on his way to a Gunners exit bt that may not necessarily be the case.
Lukas Podolski has already joined the North London club but such is the lack of goal-scoring support for the Dutchman Arsene Wenger may well be looking as Giroud as further reinforcements or indeed consider using his German international capture in a wide role instead of up front.
Giroud is currently at the Euro 2012 finals but did not get the nod for Laurent Blanc’s opener with England.
