Wantaway striker Carlos Tevez can still have a bright future at Manchester City, according to boss Roberto Mancini.
Tevez had been expected to leave City after declaring his intention to quit Manchester just weeks after captaining the club to FA Cup glory.
But a £50million asking price appears to have scared off potential suitors with the Argentine star set to return to City's squad for Sunday's clash at Bolton after failing to secure his desired move.
And Mancini has no worries over the commitment of Tevez, last season's Premier League joint top scorer, should he remain at the Etihad Stadium beyond the 31st August transfer deadline
He said: "I'm sure Carlos will be committed because he is professional.
Professional
"I don't think there will be a problem because he's a professional player and knows the rules.
"He knows that if he wants to leave he can. But at the moment there isn't any club who can pay his value.
"Carlos knows that he might have to stay here and if he stays here his mentality will be good.
"I respect his reasons to leave but we have another ten days and if, in that time, we don't close a move for Carlos then he will stay here."
Frustration
Mancini, who hopes to complete the £23million signing of Arsenal star Samir Nasri next week, has also revealed his frustration at being unable to shift unwanted fringe players.
The Italian admitted he is desperate to freshen up his squad but first needs to get rid of Craig Bellamy, Emmanuel Adebayor, Wayne Bridge, Roque Santa Cruz and Shaun Wright-Phillips.
He added: "We have a problem because we haven't sold some players.
"We need other players to complete the squad but until we sell those that are here it is a problem.
"I don't understand this situation but I think we are missing other players to finish our squad."
