Schedule of SriLankan Premier League ( SLPL ) Fixtures 2012

2012 SLPL will be held from 10th to 31st August just before the ICC World Twenty20. ICC World Twenty20 happens in Sri Lanka in September. It will include 24 matches that will be played at R. Premadasa stadium (Colombo) and Pallekele stadium (Kandy). Each and every match will be telecasted live. It will feature 7 provincial teams such as Basnahira XI (Western Zone), Ruhunu XI (Southern Zone), Uva XI (Uva Zone), Wayamba XI (North Western Zone), Nehenagira XI (Eastern Zone), Kandurata XI (Central Zone) and Uthura Xi (Nothern Zone). All the teams will include six overseas players (in which 4 must be in the playing eleven) and seven Sri Lankans players (at least one youngster under-21).


The captain of Basnahira Bears is TM Dilshan, Wayamba Wolves is Mahela Jayawardane, Ruhuna Rhinos is Sanath Jayasooriya, Kandurata Kites is K Sangakkara, Uva Unicorns is Chaminda Vaas, Uthura Oryxes is Daniel Vettoriain and Nagenahira Nagas is Sahid Afridi. The Sri Lanka Cricket is yet seeking sponsors for the teams and Mr. Upali Dharmadasa (chairman of SLC) confessed that tournament success is based on number of sponsors they find. As per him, business tycoons of Sri Lanka are already showing interest in 2012 SLPL tournament. The officials of SLC were sure about the involvement of Indian and Pakistani players in 2012 SLPL.
